Where you come from
How to reach Pacasmayo
Pacasmayo sits on the Panamericana Norte, almost halfway between Trujillo and Chiclayo. From either one it is about two hours by bus, with departures all day.
From Lima the night bus is the usual way: you leave at night and arrive early. The closest airports are Trujillo, in Huanchaco, and Chiclayo, and from both you carry on overland.

Trujillo airport
Getting here from Trujillo airport
Carlos Martínez de Pinillos airport is in Huanchaco, north of Trujillo. The trip is done in two legs with Emtrafesa, and adds up to about S/ 57 per person. A direct taxi from the airport to Pacasmayo charges around S/ 200.

From the airport to the hostel
- From the airport to the Emtrafesa terminal in Trujillo. Emtrafesa has an airport pick-up service you book by phone, and there are taxis too: between S/ 20 and S/ 30, about 35 minutes.
- From the Emtrafesa terminal in Trujillo to Pacasmayo. Emtrafesa bus to Pacasmayo, every hour, S/ 12, about two and a half hours. Surfboards travel for S/ 10 to 15 more.
- From the Pacasmayo terminal to the hostel. It is 900 metres, 13 minutes on foot or a few minutes by mototaxi.
From the hostel to the airport
- From the Pacasmayo station to Trujillo. The same Emtrafesa bus, every hour, S/ 12 plus S/ 10 to 15 per board. Two and a half hours.
- From the Trujillo terminal to the airport. Taxi from the station itself, S/ 20 to 30, about 35 minutes. Inside the terminal there are large Emtrafesa cars where boards fit without going on the roof.
The two legs add up to about three hours and a quarter, not counting the wait.

The centre is walkable: from the terminal to the door is 13 minutes on foot. With luggage, at night or to leave town, these are the local contacts. You deal with them directly.

I am coming by car, where do I leave it?

Can you rent a car in Pacasmayo?
No. The rental agencies are in Trujillo and Chiclayo. To get out of town without your own car, there is a driver with a car who does day trips.
